Nevinnomyssk is a city in Stavropol Krai, Russia, located on both banks of the Kuban River at its confluence with the Bolshoy Zelenchuk River, 54 kilometers (34 mi) south of Stavropol.
In the spring of 1952 the government had decided to build Nevinnomyssk plant for the production of nitrogen fertilizers.
The convenient location of the city on the highways, Stavropol powerful gas field, the abundance necessary for the production of water accumulated construction experience, as well as high economic potential - are the main factors that influenced this decision. In the surrounding area, in the north-western outskirts of Nevinnomyssk, grew a new multi-storey city center with its cultural and educational institutions.
